It's Finally Time to Do It!

Come November 17th at approximately 7:45 am I will be embarking on a goal/challenge that has always been on my "bucket list!" I will run in the Thunder Road Half Marathon!

I was never a runner until Reagan was born (almost 2.5 yrs ago) and then it became my escape of the craziness of being a full time working Wife & Mommy. Its health benefits/weight loss were the icing on the cake but it truthfully is now more about the accomplishment and what I like to call "Free Therapy"

My running buddy, Nickie, and I have been in this together since our very first race back in the early fall of 2010.While our husbands stood and cheered us to the finish like holding our newborn babies in their arms! (tears!!) A 5K that took me over 37 minutes to run, but run I did....never once walked. And that has been my objective since then, to never walk and finish each and every race strong! I have since run many 5K's, a 10K, and many many miles pounding the pavement for myself, working my way up to 10 miles last winter. Just a few weeks ago I competed in a local 5K and placed 1st in my age division (20-29yrs old) and finishing in 26:29. I've come a long way from Fall 2010 and the 13.1 miles that are just over a month away will be my biggest challenge to date! In my loudest cheerleader voice I say..."Bring It ON!!"

Side Note: Whenever Reagan sees my in my running clothes and shoes she always states, "Mommy, go running? I want to run too Mommy!" So for Halloween this year my sweet little girl will be a race runner! I even saved my last racing bib for her to wear!

I am in training mode: My goal is to get to 10 miles in my pre race training and leave the last 3.1 to race day adrenaline! Wish me luck! Any advice is also welcome!
