So last Friday morning after dropping Reagan off at daycare, Chad and I made our way down to the NC Ferry to travel over to the majestic little island! We had only been to Ocracoke once before last summer and that trip was only for a night so we didn't learn much about the town so we were extra excited to pinpoint our favorite locations this time!
Arriving into Ocracoke harbor area from our ferry...
The weather was pretty drull all day Friday and we were quite bummed but we declared to make the best of it!
We stayed at Edwards of Ocracoke and I am absolutely in love with these little bungalows! I will stay here again in a heart beat. Super cute and super clean and had SO MUCH charm! The staff was amazing and we even rented bikes from them to we could park the car for the whole weekend!
After exploring the island a bit Friday we ventured over to Zillies, my new favorite spot (thanks to my good friend Lauren B!) Zillie's Island Pantry is wine and specialty beer shop that houses a huge front porch to look over the back streets of charming Ocracoke! Its actually a self serve joint, meaning you go inside select the type of wine you want, glass or bottle, or one of their many beer selections and head out to seat yourself on their porch. When you want another round you head back inside again to get your selection. They also have all sorts of specialty munchies your can purchase and a cheese selection. If you purchase the cheese they give you a cutting board and crackers and your set! Since the weather was pretty dreary Friday we camped out here for quite a while having cocktails, chatting and meeting some fun folks before heading back to our bungalow for showers and dinner reservations at Diajos!
For the rest of the day we hopped around to different outside venues enjoying the Silver Lake view, eating and soaking in the sunshine! We had another yummy dinner Saturday night at the Back Porch and hit the hay pretty early. We had to both take advantage of catching up on our sleep while away from our sweet pea! (By the way, Reagan was home with BaBa getting spoiled to bits!)
Our loooong stop at the Jolly Roger...
Bike riding Fun!! We felt like kids! One of our favorite things about our trip was going everywhere on our bikes!
Sunday the weather was back to dreary so after another visit to the Coffee Co. and one more bike ride around the island we packed up and headed to catch the ferry. We decided to take the scenic way home and took the Hatteras Ferry. We drove through the true outer banks home and went through Hatteras, Rodanthe and all those neat towns skimming NC's coast. I couldn't believe I was actually still in NC on this ride home. You are literally on a strip of road with the ocean and sound on either side of you...Was surreal to see!
Chad and I had an amazing trip! We fell more in love with Ocracoke and hope to go back again this summer! As much as we missed Reagan and talked about her it was really great for just us to get away together. To focus on just us for a few days and remember where it all began! Happy 5 Years to Us!
A few more pics from the trip....
I have no idea why they are sideways and I cant figure out how to turn them...sorry!!
my surprise present! Pearl is Reagan's birthstone and diamonds are mine:) too sweet!

sometimes its nice that the weather is gloomy because instead of camping out on the beach all day you really take the time to explore the town. Looks amazing, hope we can join you one day!
ReplyDeleteCarter it looks like you had a ball!!! John's aunt and uncle own the Edwards :)! I'm not sure if you got to meet Trudy & Wayne or Burt & Sarah, but they are our fam :)! Ocracoke is heaven :)!!! Hope to see you soon!
